Minor updates

Just wanted to post about a couple of changes that have just gone live. The first one was a problem with editing previously created service invoices – updates to the description weren’t updating properly. This has now been fixed.

The second update came about because a subscriber got in touch to ask about their billing period. He wanted to know when his billing period was, and it made me realise that it’s not obvious when your billing cycle will reset. Therefore, I have just updated Simplybill to indicate how many days you have until your next billing period. This should make it much easier to manage the number of invoices you have available in your plan.

First Edition Now Live

I’m really pleased to have the first addition to the Editions series now live. Editions are variations on the standard invoice that can be used to create more distinctive invoices for you and your clients. The first of these is the Photo Edition. It is available to choose from the “New Invoice” page.

It simply allows for the inclusion of an image on an invoice-by-invoice basis. Here’s how it compares to a standard invoice:

It will probably be of most use to the many photographers who use Simplybill, but anyone can use it to add an image to their invoice. It would be great to hear any feedback on this new Edition.

I plan to add many more Editions in the coming months – if you have an idea for an Edition, I’ll be glad to hear of it.

Minor Update Friday

Over the coming weeks, there will be a number of minor updates to Simplybill. Today’s updates include:

  • Better feedback when saving changes in Settings and Accounts pages
  • Ability to use separate headings for Quotes and Invoices
  • Improved filter mechanism for Quotes and Invoices
  • Business Registraton Number field for Invoices and Quotes

Previously in Simplybill, if you wanted to test out an invoice email to see what it looked like, you had to create a client with your details – and send the invoice to that client. Now, it’s super-easy to preview any invoice email. We’ve added a “Send test email to yourself” button on the invoice page. One click and you’ll receive a test email in seconds.
